Mum always insisted we wore our aprons when eating, so we did each others buttons before being given a choc ice each. “Why don’t you eat them in the garden? It’s a lovely day.”
“But… someone might see us,” I replied.
“Well that hardly matters now does it?” Mum replied, “Plus, you two princesses are far to pretty to be cooped up indoors all day.”
Mum wouldn’t take no for an answer, so we sauntered into the garden and nervously glanced up at the overlooking windows before sitting on the bench. “I hate being a princess,” Peter said.
“It was OK so long as no-one knew,” I replied. “Now everyone’s going to know.”
